Baroque Lyme Regis
Our home in the South West is brimming with incredible creatives. Each month, we take pleasure in shining a light on one of our friends who embodies a similar ethos to ours, delving into how they incorporate Black Cow in their food and drink creations. Today, we're exploring the warm and inviting Baroque, nestled in the heart of Lyme Regis.
A Dorset-based culinary delight where wood-fired cooking meets the evocative spices of Europe and the Middle East, Baroque infuses every dish with innovation. The restaurant (and its owner Jane) is warm and inviting, the perfect place to while away an autumn afternoon or escape for a leisurely Sunday lunch. All washed down with Jane's delicious signature Black Cow Bloody Marys.

Tell us a bit about Baroque and the inspiration behind your menu.
Baroque is a melting pot of a rich spice heritage alongside culinary traditions of The East, including Lebanon, and the Mediterranean, with a modern, flamboyant twist. The ancient spice routes inspire us, and we set this against the picturesque backdrop of the Jurassic Coast in Lyme Regis. Our wood-fired grill is the heart of the kitchen, blending the best of local produce with spices sourced from historical trade routes.
Why do you like using Black Cow in your drinks?
Black Cow's smoothness and unique milk-based formulation make it a versatile and delicious addition to our cocktail menu. It elevates even the simplest drink to a gourmet experience, which is what our customers have come to expect at Baroque. In addition it’s the support of local which is so important to us!
Favourite thing to do in Lyme Regis?
When not at Baroque, we love exploring the fossil beaches of Lyme Regis, the nearby coastal path and soaking in the quaint and friendly coastal atmosphere. It's a source of both relaxation and inspiration for our menus. Lyme is a foodie heaven, so we love to support the nearby restaurants and experience new tastes. We also love foraging and can’t wait to get exploring this autumn in the countryside close to where we live and work.
That’s certainly a tough one, as I’m sure many of our customers would agree! Our signature dish is most probably our Lamb, slowly roasted and locally sourced. This succulent shoulder is immersed in a myriad of authentic and pungent herbs and spices for several hours then slowly cooked in the oven before charring and creating that special depth of flavour on our wood-fired grill.
What’s next for you and Baroque?
Coming into the colder months. Expect some seasonal tweaks. The fire will be turned up a notch. Watch this space…
