Black Cow Vodka’s first cocktail competition came to an exciting close at the Gold Cup final last week, held at the Seaside Boarding House in Burton Bradstock.
After a tense and closely fought battle, Manachain Monaghan from The Monk Cocktail Bar in Buxton was declared the winner, with his drink the National Park Cup. Manachain was presented with a handmade ceramic cup, made by West Dorset master potter, Miranda Berrow.
The finalists were tasked with creating a cocktail using ingredients found in the English countryside.
John Wright from River Cottage took all the finalists on a foraging expedition along the Dorset coastline before the final started. They were looking for edible items that could be found along the way and John also suggest recipes and ways to use naturally found produce in food. He shared his grass-infused vodka and rosehip-infused vodka with us before also making a cocktail based on ingredients that could be foraged from the countryside.
Congratulations to the other finalists:
Ben Crozier from Boozy Cow, Edinburgh
Georgia Thresh from Tariff & Dale, Manchester
Tony Hogan from Épernay, Manchester
Sevi Marshall from Strait and Narrow, Lincoln
Charlie Thomas from Amoeba, Bristol
Felix Cohen from Manhattans Project, London
